The use of aerial work platforms (AWPs) for access on construction sites and in industrial facilities continues to increase. AWPs can provide a safer and more productive alternative to working at heights but only if used by trained (qualified) operators, maintained and not exceeding manufacturers' engineering specifications. This program is intended to provide supervisors, safety managers and those responsible for training with the knowledge to understand how AWPs work and effectively and safely manage their use. This program is not designed as an operator training course or a review of OSHA standards but rather as an in depth look at AWPs to enable attendees to know if aerial lifts are being used and maintained properly, and to preplan for safe operations.
